Honoring a Legacy: LPP's Continued Support for the Mel Evans MBE Foundation

This year, Local Print Pros have nominated the Mel Evans MBE Foundation as their charity of the year.

Chosen as their charity of the year, the Mel Evans MBE Foundation holds a special place in the hearts of LPP. The foundation's dedication to raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), organising fundraising events, and promoting Crown Green Bowls at grassroots levels resonates deeply with the values of the Local Print Pros community.

The story of Mel Evans is one that resonates deeply with many. A man whose passion for Crown Green Bowls knew no bounds, Mel's dedication to the sport was matched only by his humility and quiet determination. With over 100 caps for his beloved Staffordshire and a tireless effort to bring Crown Green Bowls to mainstream audiences, Mel's impact on the sport was nothing short of remarkable.

But life took an unexpected turn when, in 2016, Mel was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). For Mel and his family, this news was a devastating blow. Yet, in the face of adversity, they found the strength to channel their love and passion into something positive – the Mel Evans MBE Foundation.

Founded by Lynn, Mel's devoted wife, the foundation stands as a testament to his legacy and his unwavering commitment to the sport he loved. With Honorary Patrons like former World Snooker Champion John Parrott MBE and Professor Dame Pamela Shaw, the foundation has rallied support from all corners, united in its mission to raise awareness of MND, support leading treatments, and promote Crown Green Bowls at grassroots level.

Supporting the Mel Evans MBE Foundation was a natural choice. In 2022, LPP sponsored the Mel Evans Fundraising Bowls north vs south tournament, a testament to their commitment to making a difference in their community. And now, in 2024, they're proud to continue their support, ensuring that Mel's legacy lives on.

But it's not just about the sponsorship or the fundraising events. It's about honoring a legacy. It's about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who are fighting against MND and working tirelessly to promote a sport that brings joy to so many.

As we come together once again to support the Mel Evans MBE Foundation, let us remember the man behind the cause – a man whose quiet strength and unwavering dedication continue to inspire us all. And let us pledge to keep his memory alive, not just in our hearts, but in every strike of the bowl and every act of kindness we perform.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can honor Mel's legacy. Together, we can support the Mel Evans MBE Foundation.
