Introduction
Our vision is that our products will always be sustainable and biodegradable. We have chosen Lyocell because it meets all the criteria we set out for ourselves in terms of environmental sensitivity, durability and performance. Read in this blog about its benefits.
Lyocell - Cotton without the negative environmental impact
Lyocell is a fiber that is made from the pulp of trees, using cellulose from wood, which is dissolved and then spun into a fiber. Tencel lyocell meets Oeko-Tex100 standards for safety and non-toxicity.
Lyocell has been shown to be gentle on your skin and safe for people with sensitive skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It’s also ideal for those who are looking to avoid animal-based fibers like wool or silk because it’s made through completely natural processes without any chemicals whatsoever!
Because lyocell doesn't have all those nasty chemicals found in traditional fabrics it can be dyed in any color you want without having to worry about dying the fabric (and therefore ruining its integrity). This means you can use whatever colors you want without worrying about whether or not they will match up once everything's sewn together!
Lyocell is biodegradable, which means it breaks down naturally into carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) and water when it's disposed of in a landfill or composted at home.
Tencel fibers are obtained from 100 percent certified renewable wood sources and are fully biodegradable.
The closed loop system uses environmentally safe solvents (recycled 99.5% of the time), and reuses virtually all water used in the process, saving natural resources while cutting wastewater volumes by more than 90%. This process also reduces energy consumption by 50% compared to conventional viscose production.
The natural feel and breathability of Tencel lends itself very well to embroidery products. We feel so good about this fabric that we use it in our new lines of clothing.
You will be surprised at how soft and smooth this fabric is. It has a very natural feel, similar to silk or cotton but with a coolness that is hard to describe. We think you will love it!
Conclusion
We have been extremely happy with the results we have gotten from Tencel, and we feel very good about being able to offer our customers a product that is environmentally friendly. If you are looking for an alternative fabric that is sustainable and feels great on your skin, then this might just be the right choice for you too!
